We've all known about The Last of Us TV series that's been on the way for a little while now, but the casting decisions HBO has announced are new. It was only a couple of weeks ago that it was revealed that Pedro Pascal would be taking the lead as Joel and Bella Ramsey would be playing Ellie. Now a deep fake video of some of The Last of Us cutscenes gives us a taste of what HBO's show might look like.
You might recognise both Ramsey and Pascal from other media you've watched. Pascal appeared in the recent Wonder Woman 1984 as well as appearing as the lead in Disney+'s The Mandalorian. Rasmey is primarily known for her role in Game of Thrones as noblewoman Lyanna Mormont, a series in which Pascal also starred as Oberyn Martell. The rest of the cast is yet to be announced, but these are the two main roles everyone had their eyes on.
Now a video from Stryder HD on YouTube (spotted by 80lv) perfectly recreates the cut scenes in The Last of Us game to show us what Ellie and Joel's dynamic might look like in the show. A few scenes from the game are spliced together and it's actually pretty difficult to remember what the characters should look like when you see how good Pascal and Ramsey look in the roles.
From Joel's tired dad demeanour to Ellie's youthful confidence, the pair look the part. However, there are some that still have their own dream casting situations. GAMINGbible originally wanted Hugh Jackman for Joel after his great performance in Logan. Other fans are still really pushing to see Nikolaj Costar-Waldau as Joel.
Most people however have welcomed Ramsey and Pascal into their roles. These deep fakes and fan artwork has us convinced that they're going to be excellent characters to follow when the HBO series comes out.
