IT Chapter Two Easter Egg In Fortnite Hints At Crossover Event

Epic seems to be teasing the next big movie-related crossover event for Fortnite, and it's decidedly far more creepy than seeing Thanos or The Avengers getting involved with the mega-popular battle royale.

Multiple Reddit users have reported coming across strange red balloons all over the game's map - a clear nod the twisted clown Pennywise, as an image undeniably synonymous with IT.

As if that wasn't enough, most - if not all - of these balloons seem to have been found attached to drains in the sidewalk, and interacting with said balloons triggers a creepy laugh - another nod to the grisly opening of the first chapter (RIP Georgie).

Players all seem to agree that this is Epic's way of teasing a Fortnite/IT Chapter Two crossover event to coincide with the film's release this weekend. The battle royale found similar success when it added Thanos to the game as part of an event to coincide with Avengers: Infinity War.

With that said, there is the issue of Pennywise and IT being rather more grown up than the Avengers movies. Given there are plenty of kids out there who play Fortnite, it might not be entirely likely that a demonic child-murdering clown is going to be added as a playable character, but that doesn't mean Epic can't come up with something more suitable.

It could be that Epic is simply including this fun/creepy Easter egg ahead of the film's launch over the weekend and that it won't go any further, of course.

IT Chapter Two comes to cinemas tomorrow (September 6) and is set to bring to a close to horrific misadventures of the Losers Club and their decades-spanning conflict with Pennywise.

In other Fortnite crossover news, the battle royale recently saw a Borderlands event that included a new Rift Zone base on Pandora, Borderlands-themed cosmetics and a few new challenges.
