No, I have no idea why either.

Do you guys remember what a big deal it was when Thanos made the jump from the Marvel Universe to the world of Fortnite? It was an incredible moment for the Epic Games-developed battle royale, and a testament to just how huge Fortnite had gotten. Fast forward a few years, and Fortnite is just as big as it ever was... and continues to provide the cameo appearances to match.

In the last few months alone, the battle royale has introduced a slew of characters from different universe. Kratos. Master Chief. Batman and Joker. Wolverine. Djinn Djarin and The Child from The Mandalorian. Ryu from Street Fighter. Fortnite has established itself as a video game crossover paradise akin to that of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - a game where literally anyone could step through a portal and join the fight next.

Even with that in mind, I have to admit I was more than a little thrown by the new reports that Peter Griffin - that's the same Peter Griffin from Family Guy - is coming to Fortnite in the near future.

GMatrixGames, who also spotted evidence of Ryu and Chun-Li ahead of their actual announcement, uncovered what seems to be a TV reel of Peter Griffin hidden in the game's files. The reel shows off a number of clips of the Griffin family patriarch, most notably one of his showdowns with the giant chicken, as if to prove he knows how to fight.

The dataminer also posted a screenshot of the area in the game's code where the reel can be found, just in case you happen to think this is an elaborate shitpost. Like I did. And still a do a little bit, to be honest.

It seems highly unlikely that GMatrixGames would be making this up, and a number of users on Reddit and Twitter appear to have verified the existence of these files themselves.

With that said, the mysterious reel isn't necessarily indictive of Peter Griffin coming to Fortnite as a playable character. Given Epic's proclivity for using the battle royale as a platform for various other events outside of shooting one another dead, the idea of a special Family Guy screening in the game is hardly out of the question. For now, I guess, we must wait and see what kind of horrors Peter Griffin could unleash on the world of Fortnite.
