I guess even Ash is a subscriber.

Fans of Felix 'PewDiePie' Kjellberg have been having fun with an episode of the Pokémon Journeys anime that seems to contain a direct reference to the popular YouTuber.

As reported by Dexerto, episode 59 of the series kicks off with protagonist Ash Ketchum and travelling companion Goh being woken up in the middle of the night. Keen fans of Kjellberg's work instantly noticed that Ash's pajama top bears a striking resemblance to the PewDiePie brofist logo. You can take a look at the two side-by-side below. There is absolutely a likeness there, that much is clear.

The truth, of course, is that the whole things is most likely purely coincidental. The fans are aware of this, but they've still enjoyed making and sharing memes that suggest Kjellberg's influence has now extended to the long-running anime and that Ash Ketchum is one of his many subscribers.

The spot absolutely blew up over on Reddit. Some fans pointed out that the logo on Ash's shirt is more likely a reference to fighting-type Pokémon, while others joked that the creators of Pokémon clearly travelled forwards in time to steal the brofist and use it in the video games and anime. PewDiePie fans are a wild bunch, obviously.

"Nah man, obviously Pokémon stole PewDiePie's brofist so that way people would actually watch their show," one user wrote. "As we all know, Pokémon was made in the 1990's and Felix was born before that. You do the math punk."

Another fan took the joke even further, recording a video in which he summoned a pigeon to land on his arm before challenging Kjellberg to a Pokémon battle. The YouTuber responded to this strange challenge in his most recent upload, laughing at the fact that he had always suspected Pokémon was real this entire time.
