The rumours were true. Ghost Of Tsushima: Director's Cut has been announced for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, and includes a ton of enhancements for the new-gen console as well as a brand-new Iki Island expansion. This expanded and enhanced edition of the 2020 game comes to both consoles on August 20.

You can take a look at the shiny new trailer for yourself below. Unsurprisingly, Director's Cut is being billed as the ultimate way to play Ghost Of Tsushima. It includes all of the base game content, the multiplayer Legends mode, and plenty of visual upgrades and DualSense features on PS5.

"In this new story," developer Sucker Punch writes on the PlayStation Blog, "Jin travels to the island to investigate rumours of a Mongol presence. But soon, he finds himself caught up in events with deeply personal stakes that will force him to relive some traumatic moments from his past."

The PS5 version will benefit from a wealth of new features, including lip sync for English and Japanese voiceover, haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, 3D audio, improved load times, and a silky smooth 60fps. You'll also be able to transfer your save file from PS4 to PS5.

All of this new content obviously sets Director's Cut apart from other PS4 to PS5 upgrades like Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Sony expects you to pay accordingly. While most new-gen upgrades on PS5 are free to those who own the PS4 version of the game, you'll have to cough up a fee to upgrade to the Director's Cut - even if you own Ghost Of Tsushima on PS4 already.

Sony outlined the various (and slightly convoluted) upgrade paths over on the PlayStation blog. If you already own Ghost Of Tsushima and want to upgrade to the Director's Cut on PS4, that'll cost you $19.99. There's word on UK prices just yet, but that equates to roughly £15. If you own the Director's Cut on PS4 and want to upgrade to the PS5 version, that's $9.99 (£7).

If you're looking to go straight from the standard version of Ghost Of Tsushima on PS4 to the PS5 Director's Cut, that'll be $29.99 (around £22). Finally, if you're coming to the game for the first time with Director's Cut, that'll be the now-standard £69.99 on PS5 and £59.99 on PS4.
