July PS Plus Freebie Confirmed Via PlayStation 5 Remaster Announcement

It's looking more and more likely that the free PlayStation 5 game for PlayStation Plus subscribers in July will indeed be the new-gen remaster of A Plague Tale: Innocence.

Last week ResetEra user deluxera made a bunch of pre-E3 claims about Asobo Studio's single-player stealth-adventure A Plague Tale: Innocence that almost all turned out to be true. They wrote that a sequel, called A Plague Tale: Requiem would be announced during Microsoft's E3 2021 showcase. It was! They also claimed that a new-gen remaster of the original game was being released, and that it would be included in July's PlayStation Plus lineup exclusively for PlayStation 5 users.

While the PS Plus lineup for July has yet to be officially confirmed by Sony, the remaster of A Plague Tale: Innocence has been unveiled, once again proving deluxera right.

Publisher Focus Home Interactive announced over the weekend that the 2019 game will be receiving an upgrade on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. This souped-up version will allow players to experience the adventure in 4K ultra HD while at 60fps, and with 3D audio. There'll also be a number of visual enhancements, including improved shadows and lighting. The upgrade is set to become available from July 6, which would certainly line it up nicely to be a PS Plus freebie for next month, wouldn't it?

At this point, it's highly unlikely that the last of deluxera's claims would turn out to be false, and we feel fairly confident in saying A Plague Tale: Innocence will almost certainly be the PS5 PS Plus free game for July. With that said, there's every chance Sony's plans could change between now and the end of the month, when PS Plus games are typically announced.
