The much-anticipated PlayStation-exclusive Spider-Man content for Marvel's Avengers has been delayed until later this year, developer Crystal Dynamics has confirmed.
The hold-up was officially announced after the studio revealed its 2021 content roadmap for Marvel's Avengers. Unfortunately, there's no mention whatsoever of exactly when PlayStation fans can expect to see their favourite neighbourhood Spider-Man.
However, despite the lack of Spider-Man, there is a lot of content for fans to look forward to throughout the year. The big seller on this roadmap is Black Panther, who will be joining the roster before the end of 2021. The Black Panther expansion will not only include the hero himself, but a whole new story, the Wakandan Jungle Biome, new villains and factions, and more.
If that's not enough to make up for the lack of Spider-Man, then allow studio head Scot Amos, via IGN, to reassure you that he's still very much on the way. "I can tell you that, formally, officially, people are working on him right now, so it is still on our roadmap for the future," he said. Fans are just sadly going to have to wait a little bit longer before they'll be able to swing around as the much loved webhead.
Not much else was shared in regards to what to expect when Spider-Man eventually does make his debut into Marvel's Avengers. But fans of the game shouldn't expect to see it leave PlayStation exclusivity, as that's the big selling point for the game to the PlayStation fanbase. There's still plenty more heroes to get your hands on though, such as Hawkeye and the aforementioned Black Panther later this year.
Until then, Marvel's Avengers dropped a new patch just last week featuring some fresh story content for the Hawkeye storyline to keep players busy. On top of that, the game has been updated to be supported on next-gen systems properly now, so it's all coming up Milhouse for fans of this one.
