Sony has just announced a free weekend of PlayStation Plus multiplayer alongside a raft of other treats and goodies as part the returning Days Of Play celebration.

Over on the PlayStation Blog, Sony has teased what we can expect from Days Of Play 2021. A massive sale featuring a number of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 is just the tip of the iceberg. It's yet to be confirmed which games will be discounted in the sale, planned for later this month, but I'm hoping I can finally get Demon's Souls for under £70.

Take a look at some of our favourite PlayStation Easter eggs in Astro's Playroom below!

"A Days of Play sale will kick off later this month, and the sale will feature PS4 and PS5 software titles, other select products, and more," Sony writes. "Products on offer and prices will vary by region. We'll have more details to share soon, so stay tuned!"

We can also expect a "free multiplayer weekend", during which anyone who doesn't have a PlayStation Plus subscription can access online features across a wide variety of PS4 and PS5 games without the usual charge. Again, Sony has yet to confirm a date, but it's expected later this month.

Finally, Sony will be kicking off a series of shared player goals that will reward participants with exclusive PSN avatars and themes. Registration opens today and will remain open until the end of the month. The first stage of the celebration kicks off on May 18, and you can sign up here. The event will end on June 7, 2021.

Sony explains the three community goals are split into three categories: Games, Trophies, and Bonus. For Games, the community must play a target number of games each week to accumulate points. You can earn double points if you play a game with a friend on your friends list.

The Trophies goal is fairly obvious: earn points by grabbing a target number of Trophies each week. Lastly, the Bonus goals are just that - extra targets the community can work towards if the first set of goals are reached before the end of each stage.
