PlayStation Plus July 2021 Free Games Appear Online, But Don't Get Too Excited

What looked to be the PlayStation Plus free games lineup for July 2021 started doing the rounds over the weekend, but we'd advise against getting too excited. It seems as if the games on display in this latest leak are almost certainly not the games we'll be ending up with in a few days.

To be fair, the leak certainly looks legit in many respects. Reddit was first to spot a now-deleted post on German website MyDealz which suggested that the recently announced PlayStation 5 version of A Plague Tale: Innocence would be made free for subscribers alongside WRC 9 and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

Take a look at some of our essential PlayStation 4 titles below. Any there you'd love to see come to PlayStation Plus?

It's worth noting that MyDealz has actually accurately leaked PS Plus titles in the past, which certainly gives this an extra glimmer of legitimacy. It's also all but guaranteed at this point that A Plague Tale: Innocence will be one of July's freebies after a mysterious leaker made a ton of predictions related to the Asobo Studios game that all came true over E3. The only claim left to be proven right? That the PS5 version of A Plague Tale will be dropped as a freebie next month.

That sure seems like enough to confidently say that Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and WRC 9 will be joining A Plague Tale, but users over on Reddit have pointed out that the original leak definitely looks... less than legit.

According to multiple users who were able to cast their keen eye over the original post before it was deleted, it looks like the "leak" was nothing more than an edited version of the PS Plus May 2021 lineup. While the three games on the image were all new, the disclaimer at the bottom specifies "available from 05/04/21 - 05/31/21" - the dates that May's 2021 were listed and delisted. Even more gaming, it goes on to say "PS5 Console Only: Benefit not applicable for Wreckfest on PS4." Wreckfest was, of course, the PS5-exclusive free game in May.

So there we have it. While there's a chance MyDealz simply forgot to properly update its template with the information for July 2021, it's far more likely that the leak in question is a fake. The free PlayStation Plus games for July 2021 are set to be officially announced later this week, so stay tuned.
