The latest round of system updates for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 are being rolled out across the world today, bringing with them a bevy of highly requested new features and tweaks.

After being tested earlier this year by beta participants, a fresh round of brand-new features are now ready to be dished out to the masses. At long last, PS5 and PS4 players players can create or join Open and Closed Parties. Meanwhile, the PS5 is packing a number of new customisation options, voice commands, and accessibility settings.

On both consoles, players now have the option to select either an Open or Closed Party, which pretty much does exactly what you'd expect. An Open Party lets your friends (and friends of party members) jump in without an invite. Closed Parties are, of course, invite-only.

PS5-specific features include easier ways to report misbehaving players, thanks to new visual indicators that help you see who in the party was speaking. A much-needed update to Share Play also means you no longer need to start Share Screen before accessing the app.

The PS5 Game Base has also undergone some changes. Voice chats are now called Parties, and the Game Base menu has been divided into three tabs: Friends, Parties and Messages. The PS5 UI has been slightly reworked to allow for more apps and games on screen at any time too, and browsing Trophies has been made just a little easier.

Last but not least, players will be able to try out the new Voice Command feature on PS5. This allows you to open games and apps using the mighty power of your voice, although it's currently only available for English language speakers in the UK and US. No word yet on when to expect it in other territories. You can head to the settings menu and get it set up as soon as the latest update is installed.
