PS1, PS2-Themed PlayStation 5 Controllers Are Available Now, And They're Gorgeous

I see it, I want it

I'm a big fan of everything my PlayStation 5 DualSense controller can do, but I still can't quite get on board with the way the thing looks. To be blunt, I'm a sweaty nerd with clammy hands, and a white controller is a recipe for disaster. Even if you pride yourself on relatively sweat-free hands, the white DualSense is still a magnet for food, dirt, dust, and, grime.

But I don't just want a non-white controller because I'm disgusting pig-man that by all accounts should live in a skip with raccoons. No, I also just wanna change it up with something a little more sleek - a little more familiar. That's why I'm really rather intrigued by these unofficial custom controllers from LazaModz. As spotted by PlayStation Universe, look to be offering a range of custom DualSense models, including original PlayStation and PlayStation 2-themed designs.

Take a look for yourself below:

"Welcome back to 1994," reads the official description on the classic controller. "Are you going to be playing Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, Spyro, CRASH, or Tony Hawk, with our Classic PS1 inspired PS5 controller? If the OG theme wasn't enough we pushed it over the top with the Full Colour PS button!"

These custom controllers are priced between $148 - $188, and certainly look gorgeous on the website, but there are some unfortunate caveats. The first, of course, is that companies attempting to make and sell custom PlayStation 5 gear have run into legal trouble with Sony over the last few months.

Custom controllers are more likely to be allowed to go ahead than the swappable console plates that were being sold, but you should still be wary, especially given the worrying reports of the PS2-themed PS5 manufacturer who shut down their website without refunding everyone.

There's also the reputation of LazaModz themselves to consider. While the website proudly talks of a business that's been around since 2008, there are some seriously mixed reviews on the internet. Over on Facebook there are plenty of recommended reviews, but also warnings from users who claim they went months without receiving their order.

Basically, these controllers do look gorgeous on the face of it, but always, always be careful when buying things like this from unofficial vendors. Or do what you want, I'm not your mum.
