The Internet Has Already Found The Building That Looks Like A PlayStation 5

Love it or hate it, I think we can all agree that the PlayStation 5 console has a pretty interesting design. Yes, it's been compared to everything from ethernet routers to a character from Pixar's WALL-E. Yes, it might be a little on the chunky side. Yes, I might actually need to clear more space than I'd expected to make room for it... but the more I look at it, the more it's weird curvy charms grow on me.

That's why I'm delighted to see that someone out there on the internet appears to have already found a building that looks just like Sony's next-gen console. There are already plenty of buildings out there that resemble the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4, so it's wonderful to see the PS5 already has a real-life counterpart. Not that we're saying this building stole its look from the PS5, you understand. It was clearly around first.

As spotted by Reddit user yuzuisthebestcitrus, there's a very familiar looking building located on Kappabashi in Tokyo, Japan. According to another Reddit user with a keen eye, the building that resembles a PS5 actually sells Buddhist altars. Take a look at the unique design for yourself below, and remind yourself how unlucky you are not to live in such a beautiful city.

This isn't the first time the internet has thrown up a building that looks like a PlayStation console, as I said. The Accounter Tower in Helsinki looks an awful lot like a PS2, while the John Hancock Tower in Boston bears a resemblance to the current-gen PlayStation 4.

To be honest the only thing that really surprises me about this PS5-like building is how small it is compared to the other "PlayStation buildings" around the world. If we were really awarding points for accuracy based on scale, then a building that looks like a PS5 should obviously tower above all other man-made structures.

Who knows, maybe a few decades from now an architect who grew up playing the PS5 will be inspired to build the world's largest building and model it after Sony's new next-gen console. We'll have to wait and see.
