Regardless of which platform you favour, this is a great time to be a gamer. The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S are available worldwide right now! Meanwhile, the PlayStation 5 has launched in the US and Japan, and is coming to the UK and Europe in one week. Unless you're one of those PC gamers that talks about how your platform has always done what next-gen consoles can do while nobody really listens to you, this is a fun and exciting period.
Of course at times like these, there are some who feel the need to try and open old wounds and stoke divisions. I'd like to think that "console wars" are something most of us have grown out of, but there are always a few, right? That's why it's so refreshing to see that one of the most upvoted posts on the PS5 Subreddit today is from a self-confessed Xbox stan hoping all the PlayStation fans have a great launch.
That's it! That's pretty much all their is to this story, but I saw it and really wanted to point it out. I feel we could all stand to be a little more like TheOneAnd_Only, and support and love all our fellow gamers irrespective of whether you prefer Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, or PC. As I say, I feel most of us are definitely at that point, but messages like these are really heartening to see. The replies are wonderful too, with plenty of love being directed right back at Xbox.
"Console war is bullcrap anyway, so thank you," wrote Bhalzard. "I have almost every console and will probably buy a Xbox One Series X too, when the price drops a bit."
"Have fun dude," responded ricardinator97. "It's going to be a special generation for both I can feel it!"
The rest of the thread is packed with enthusiastic discussion from Xbox and PlayStation gamers alike as they go back and forth on which games they're most excited to play, which new features are most appealing to them, and more. I'd encourage you to have a read through for yourself, because it's just nice to see people on the internet talking about videogames without being awful to each other. It's a low bar we've set for ourselves, isn't it?
