Gengar Is The Next Build-A-Bear Pokémon Plush, And I Need One

The 25th anniversary celebrations aren't slowing down any time soon.

Gengar is the newest Pokémon to arrive as part of Build A Bear and that rotund rabble rouser is absolutely adorable. I must have one ASAP.

There's a cast of characters that are available at Build A Bear at the moment, from Mew, Jolteon, Vaporeon, Umbreon, Charmander, Squirtle and of course, Pikachu. It's the 25th anniversary of the monster hunting series so The Pokémon Company has marked the celebrations with all sorts of announcements and promotions like these.

Pokémon 25 is a commemorative album featuring Katy Perry, Post Malone, Mabel, Vince Staples and more arriving next month, with songs centring around the games. Also, we got New Pokémon Snap and Pokémon Unite this year - the former was a hit with Tom Ryan-Smith and the latter introduces MOBA mechanics to the series for the very first time. If the sound of that is daunting, then never fear, we've got a guide for you right here.

Check out some Pokémon Legends: Arceus gameplay below, which tasks you with completing the very first Poké Dex in the ancient region of Hisui!

With Halloween on the horizon, the next little critter to come to Build A Bear is none other than Gengar. As spotted by Poké Jungle, the announcement doesn't have a specific date attached, but the round Ghost and Poison Pokémon looks magnificent with their purple pyjamas. There's also an online offer which appears to be a Gengar with a speaker playing five different sounds, possibly from the games and anime shows.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond
and Shining Pearl are on their way to the Nintendo Switch in November and they're carving out a new path for the series. First and foremost, the games are not being developed by Game Freak. It's the work of ICLA which is also the studio that worked on Pokémon Home, and it's assisted with NieR: Automata and Yakuza 0. Quite a departure from those to Pokémon, but the chibi aesthetic and new features are piquing the curiosity of players of all stripes.
