Scratch that Pokémon itch.

Hardcore Pokémon fans might be familiar with Temtem already. The Crema-developed MMORPG released on PC via Early Access earlier this year, and was an immediate hit. Players and critics alike praised the creature-based battle game for taking the basic concept of Nintendo's classic franchise and twisting it into the kind of deeper experience that a lot of fans have been craving - and not getting - from Pokémon itself.

In an exciting development, it's now been confirmed that even more of us will be able to jump on the Temtem hype train in 2021. Crema has confirmed that PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X gamers will finally be able to scratch that Pokémon itch when the game hits next-gen consoles next year. As an added bonus, it was also revealed that the game will be coming to Nintendo Switch... just in case Pokémon Sword & Shield didn't quite do it for you.

The official Steam page description reads: "Every kid dreams about becoming a Temtem tamer; exploring the six islands of the Airborne Archipelago, discovering new species, and making good friends along the way. Now it's your turn to embark on an epic adventure and make those dreams come true."

"Catch new Temtem on Omninesia's floating islands, battle other tamers on the sandy beaches of Deniz or trade with your friends in Tucma's ash-covered fields. Defeat the ever-annoying Clan Belsoto and end its plot to rule over the Archipelago, beat all eight Dojo Leaders, and become the ultimate Temtem tamer!"

Features include turn-based battling, character customisation, creature collecting, online co-op, and a massive colourful world set across six vivid islands. It's been an absolute hit on Steam so far, with overwhelmingly positive reviews and a constantly growing community of players. I'm pretty excited to finally get stuck into this one, as a Pokémon fan without a PC who felt let down by Sword & Shield.

Temtem was originally supposed to come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but it seems those plans have been cancelled in favour of bringing it to next-gen hardware. This makes sense, especially if it won't be ready till 2021, when PS5 and Xbox Series X will (hopefully) be in full swing. Any backers of the game who wanted to play it on a current-gen console can either upgrade for free, get a refund, or can pick a different platform (Nintendo Switch / PC).
