Popular Call Of Duty: Mobile esports player Ingrid "Sol" Oliveira Bueno da Silva has been murdered. Be aware that the details da Silva's murder are deeply disturbing, and may be triggering for some readers.

As Breslau reported on Twitter, the two players met initially through the internet. An investigation into the attack found that the murder was in fact pre-meditated "weeks beforehand". Costa is said to have recorded the murder and shared it with friends. Further messages suggested that he had planned additional attacks, but ESPN reports that he has since been arrested and has confessed.

According to Brazilian professor Lola Aronovich, Costa sent them email with the message header "A Commendable Act". In this alleged email, Costa promised more attacks would occur. The email is also said to have contained links to several disturbing videos, and footage of the attack is reportedly already circulating online.

A 2018 report from The Guardian found that an average of four Brazilian women were killed every day in 2019. Women account for just over half (50.85%) of Brazil's population. According to data collected by the IPEA's Atlas of Violence 2020, in 2018 a woman was murdered in Brazil every two hours - a total of 4,519 victims.

A member of the FBI esports organization at the start of an incredible promising career, da Silva was fondly remembered in a statement shared with VPEsports.

"She was an extraordinary person," it read. "We will remember every day that the sun rises, every day that the sunlight touches our body, every time we look at the Sun, we will remember her."

The Brazilian COD organisation Jaguares Gaming also shared a tribute to the young gamer. "It is with deep sadness that Jaguares Esports wishes strength to SOL's family and the FBI Esports team," they tweeted. "We are all in mourning. Rest in peace and justice be done."

Our thoughts and condolences are with da Silva's friends, family, and fans at what must be a time of unimaginable difficulty.
