According to The Boston Globe and GameRant, on January 19, Tapia was in an altercation where his aggressor shouted racial slurs at him - Tapia was both Black and Latino. Following this, the Hudson man hit Tapia with his pick-up truck. Though Tapia fought for his life, he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead in hospital. He is survived by three children and his partner.

TheBadGuY was known for his skills in the Tekken franchise of fighting games, especially within his native city of Boston, but he was well respected far and wide. Gaming communities tend to be really tight-knit and after this incident, it's obvious how hard the Tekken community have taken this loss. Many of his friends have come forward to support the family Tapia has left with his passing.

A GoFundMe has been set up to try and help cover the costs of funeral expenses as well as provide some financial relief to the family. And the Tekken community has shown just how strong it is raising over $74k out of the original planned $10k. People have really pulled together to try and help Tapia's family which, in this tragic event, is a small silver lining. The page was set up by Tekken community member Danny Garcia, who left this note on the page.

"Henny leaves behind his three children, his partner, mother, father, numerous family members and friends, including a community of video-gamers that grieve in unison.

"For all who knew Henny, despite his moniker, he was nothing short of amazing. He was truly a good guy. Henny was a gentle giant, a loyal friend, with a big, unforgettable smile, and an even bigger heart. He was monumental in laying the foundation for our Tekken family and is responsible for bringing us immeasurable memories that will last a lifetime.

"As a friend, I've watched Henny grow into an amazing individual. He tried hard every day to be the best role model for his children. He had aspirations of buying his first home with his partner Courtney and worked diligently towards this goal. This devastating event, the loss of our friend Henny, is one we will never forget. It will continue to haunt me and everyone who loved Henny, forever. Life will NEVER be the same without TheBadGuY."
