Prince Of Persia Reboot Appears Online, Reportedly Coming This Year

It looks like Ubisoft is bringing back a very familiar face later this year, if a leaked retail listing is anything to go by. A Prince Of Persia remake has been spotted online for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. While the listing in question has since been removed, industry insiders have seemingly confirmed that the game is the real deal.

Twitter user Ken Xyro managed to nab screenshots of the two separate listings that appeared on Guatemalan retailer Max (via ResetEra). Both Switch and PS4 listings referred to the title as "Prince Of Persia Remake", and point towards a November 2020 release date. Reporter Jason Schreier then to took to Twitter to essentially confirm that the listings were accurate, which would suggest that we can expect official word on the release soon.

Interestingly, this isn't the first we've heard of a new Prince Of Persia this year. A couple of months ago, Ubisoft registered a domain for something called princeofpersia6.com at the same time as it registered a domain for Assassin's Creed Valhalla. But while that would suggest an entirely new game, this recent listing clearly points to a remake.

There's no telling which of the games in the series Ubisoft will want to return to. The most likely contenders are the original 1989 side-scroller and 2003's excellent Sands Of Time. Personally, I'm hoping for the latter.

The way Ubisoft blended 3D parkour, acrobatic combat, and time-bending mechanics in Sands Of Time blew me away as a kid. I'd absolutely love to revisit what was easily one of my favourite games. With that said, there's a lot more they could do with a remake of the original game, so that'd be pretty awesome too. We'll have to wait and see.

Ubisoft has already confirmed that it has a second Ubisoft Forward presentation planned in September. If the company really does have a new Prince Of Persia on the cards, I'd imagine we'll be seeing it at this.
