Ubisoft has partnered with Netflix to make a limited-time mode for Rainbow Six Siege based on the Spanish series Money Heist. Appropriately, the mode is set around a bank robbery, with the defenders holding a hostage and the attackers assaulting the building. If you've seen Money Heist the hostage is going to be awfully familiar as they're dressed in the infamous mask and red suit worn by the robbers in the series.

You're not limited to specific operators for this game mode, but you may want to roll with Vigil and Habana. As part of the event, Ubisoft has created some unique cosmetics for the two operators that fit the Money Heist theme - the red suit and Dali mask worn by the robbers. There are eight cosmetics available in all, including uniforms, headgear, weapon skins, and charms. You can pick them all up in a bundle that's going on sale for 1680 R6 credits. While the mode only runs until November 25, those cosmetics are yours to keep and use long after the event is over.

Ubisoft is tying the mode into a free weekend event, so even if you don't own a copy of Siege you can still take part. From November 21 through to the 25 you can install and play Siege through uPlay on PC and the official stores on Xbox and PlayStation. The game's also getting a massive 70% discount throughout the free weekend, so it's the perfect time to buy a copy if you're having a good time.

If you've not seen Money Heist, it's a Spanish series you can find on Netflix that follows a group of bank robbers trying to pull off a huge haul. The first season sees the group break into the Royal Mint of Spain in Madrid, where they plan to spend multiple days held up in the building printing off €2.4 billion. Naturally, things don't go according to plan.

The series isn't like other heist dramas, as the entire first series largely takes place in near real-time. There are flashbacks to times before the robbery, and you have to deal with a not entirely reliable narrator, but for the most part you are locked into the events of the heist along with the robbers, watching them try to stay one step ahead of the police and make off with one of the largest payoffs in history.

It's not often we see crossover events like this crop up in games, so it's a cool spin on the Rainbow Six Siege free weekend formula. The Money Heist mini-event kicks off today and runs until Monday, so get into the game if you want a chance at getting that red suit and mask.
