Single-player experiences are some of the most memorable in games. Yeah, you might remember some particularly good games of Warzone or Fortnite, but you always remember the intro to Skyrim or perhaps the last moments of Red Dead Redemption 2. Sometimes you hope that you could have the experience all over again without knowing where characters were or where items could be found, though, to keep the experience fresh - and that seems to be a feature that Resident Evil: Village will have.
According to GamesRadar and industry insider AestheticGamer1, Village will have a mode that randomises a version of the game so your second playthrough is tougher than your first. The leak is just a rumour for now so don't get your hopes up entirely, but the mode sounds like an incredible way to keep gamers playing over and over.

The tweet from AestheticGamer1 says that Village may well have a secondary "Ethan Must Die 2.0" mode which amps up all the interactions you have. It'll be a secondary difficulty mode that "makes the game more open, randomizes enemy & item placement" so your experience is more varied. It is also "scaled to be extremely difficult".
(2/2) an expansive difficulty mode in the game. I don't know the full details/final result of the mode, I feel they may talk about it before release, but I'm aware it makes the game more open, randomizes enemy & item placement, & scaled to be extremely difficult.

If that doesn't sound like a replayable Resident Evil experience, I don't know what does. Although the Resi games are excellent, they're often best on the first playthrough so you can get all the scares the game plans for you - Village might be taking a different approach so that you can keep coming back again and again to get Ethan killed in delicious new ways.
Remember though, this is a rumour and we can't know this will be in the final game. That being said, there is a new Resident Evil Village showcase coming up on April 15 so we'll be finding out a little more about the project then, I'm sure. Will it be more about the tall sexy vampire Lady Dimitrescu? Or perhaps we'll be faced with some of the other beasts we'll encounter on our journey. Tune in on Twitch or YouTube at 11pm GMT / 3pm PT.
