'Red Dead Redemption 2' Player Finds Secret Way To Bust Micah Out Of Jail

If you've played Red Dead Redemption 2, you will no doubt agree that Micah is a world-class shit. He is truly one of the most repulsive, cruel, sadistic characters ever to have scuttled into a video game.

It's not hard to trace the vast majority of Arthur and the Van der Linde gang's problems back to Micah. His erratic behaviour is what causes the Blackwater heist to go south. He's the one who manipulates Dutch and turns him against the rest of the group. And he's the one who turns informant for the authorities and sells everybody out. Truly, I can't stress how much I hate this dog sneeze in a pair of cowboy boots.

Knowing what a piece of work Micah turns out to be makes playing through Red Dead Redemption 2 a second time a unique challenge. There's a moment in the game's second chapter where the player, as Arthur Morgan, is tasked with heading to Strawberry and busting Micah out of prison. Knowing what we know, the instinct to shoot him in the face or leave him to be hanged is strong... but the story won't move on till we do what must be done.

Interestingly, while you must always free Micah, Rockstar does at least provide the player with some options. I must admit I always thought there was just one way; attaching the winch to the wall of the jail and ripping it clean off. But there's a second option quite a few players know about that involves planting dynamite on the wall, and a third even lesser-known option.

Over on Reddit, one player revealed that you can actually just walk straight into the Sheriff's office where Micah is being held and blast away the three lawmen inside. From there, you simply collect the key to Micah's cell and let him out. This doesn't change much, sadly. Their (slightly) more stealthy exit still results in a massacre of half the town, and Micah still goes on to do everything he does.
