Red Dead Redemption 2 is an absolutely massive game, boasting an open world packed with mystery. Some of these mysteries are well-documented. Some of them... aren't.

If you've played Rockstar Games' sad cowboy epic, chances are you've stumbled across one or two strange things while exploring. We've heard reports of aliens, zombies, and even Bigfoot in the past - but this is the first we've ever heard of an eerie spectral presence patrolling the swamps.

Before we move on, take a look at some of the best Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below!

Reddit user C4SOx shared a video of themselves exploring the swamps of Red Dead Redemption 2 at night. As you probably know, the swamps in this game are hella creepy at the best of times, but things start to get super weird when the sun comes down.

In the footage, C4SOx comes across a shadowy figure waiting on a bridge. It's strange enough to see NPCs out in the swamps at night, given how dangerous they are, but things get stranger still when the ghostly apparition rides past the player and disappears - literally - into the mist. C4SOx's horse was also left visibly scared by the encounter, just to make things that little extra bit creepy.

You can see the whole thing for yourself in the video below. While my first thought is that this undead NPC was most probably just a glitch rather than something Rockstar intentionally put into the game - and most users seem to agree - there's no denying the setting is creepy af.

We all know unsettling things happen in swamps of Red Dead Redemption 2 at night, and it's certainly not beyond the realms of possibility that there are spectral presences that have yet to be discovered by players. Glitch or not, this is a chilling reminder that there are things hiding in this game beyond our comprehension.
