Red Dead Redemption Remastered has popped up on Amazon, sparking serious speculation that Rockstar Games has heard what fans have been longing for.

Released in 2010, Red Dead Redemption really rustled some bustles, with its gorgeous, cinematic landscapes, heartfelt characters, and exploration of pertinent themes of the early 20th century and comparing them to the modern day. It was developed over a five-year period, and involved Rockstar Games taking on a massive volume of research on the American frontier, and Bill Elm and Woody Jackson composed a soundtrack that used traditional instruments of the era. The game's impact, both artistically and in the industry, is still highly regarded today. Heck, it was the "the number one inspiration" for Ghost of Tsushima, which is only nominated for Game of the Year this year.

A number of insiders are throwing their cowboy hats into the ring, and rebuffing the rumour. For example, Rockstar Intel connects the dots and shows that Cyberpunk 2077 is also launching on December 10th, 2020. Wouldn't Rockstar Games want to avoid going head-to-head with one of the most hyped games of the last few years? And, there's very little evidence to support the fact that Rockstar Games has been working on a remaster of one of its most popular games.

However. In late 2019, the developer's parent company enacted a lawsuit against a group of modders who were porting Red Dead Redemption to PC. Its reason for coming down like a tonne of bricks on the fans was that the team's intention to port the Red Dead Redemption map into Red Dead Redemption 2 would have "reduce[d] interest in purchasing a future release of RDR1 or a RDR1 add-on map for RDR2". Intriguing. It would have affected a "future release of RDR1"... like the one that was apparently discovered on Amazon last night.

It could be something. It could be nothing. It could be an utterly breathtaking experience to roam the Wild West on the Xbox Series X and PS5. I'm getting ahead of myself. We'll keep you in the loop as and when we know more, because this might be mega.
