Over my shoulder, I'm getting colder, is that a boulder?

Those rumours of a Resident Evil 4 remake have been revived with a photo from the actor who played Leon in the new(er) Resident Evil 2.

"Man does it feel good to get back to work!" said Nick Apostolides in a post to Twitter. "Safely had a blast with some crazy people on this one....can't wait to share the project!" Accompanied by tags for "#videogames", "#action", and "#stunts", Apostolides is wearing a motion capture suit with dots and lines drawn on his face to aid the capture of facial expressions. Expectedly, the replies under the tweet are frothing with excitement, perceiving the photo to show the actor reprising his role as Leon Kennedy in the rumoured Resident Evil 4 remake.

Following the incredible critical and commercial reception of Devil May Cry 5 and Resident Evil 2, Capcom stated that it wished to "awaken dormant intellectual properties" this time last year. Now, the Resident Evil 3 remake - which was definitely in development when this report was made - might well have been what this comment referred to. However, a report in March claimed that Capcom hasanother "larger remake project" in the works, and it's working with M-Two, and development kicked off in 2018.

Moreover, director Shinji Mikami is said to have given his "full approval" to the remake of the 2005 game. It's best to proceed with a pinch of salt regarding these rumours, but, wouldn't it be brilliant to see a triad of Resi remakes? The original Resident Evil 4 is a smashing success on almost every platform it was ported to, and it left an impact on the industry. Titles like God of War, BioShock, Dead Space, and The Last of Us directly riff off the tension, environments, and cinematic tenets of Resident Evil 4, so the confirmation of a remake of this hugely important and influential game would be nothing short of incredible.

But. Capcom itself has not officially acknowledged the speculation sparked from the March report, and it has been very focused on Resident Evil Village and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. We've not even got the merest whiff of a Resident Evil 4 remake, resultantly, and it's possible that Apostolides is working on something totally different. He has credits on other games like the Life Is Strange series and Madden NFL 21... but games like these often don't require "stunts".

I'm getting ahead of myself. If we hear anything else about the rumoured Resident Evil 4 remake, we'll keep you in the loop.
