Resident Evil Village caused a stir when it was announced and not only for the realisation that the leak about vampires, witches and werewolves was real. No, it's Lady Dimitrescu that has captured the hearts of countless admirers (figuratively and literally) and it didn't take long for adoration to reach critical horny levels. With the bar set so high, fans are wondering what Capcom will do to surpass "giant vampire wife."
A poll on Resetera poses a simple question: "How horny will Resident Evil 9 be?" The options appear to be on a scale from "No horny at all," "Some mild sex appeal," "Sex appeal will become a larger part of the villains," "Anime levels," and "Bonk." At the moment, the prevailing answer is "Bonk," referring to the meme depicting two shiba inus, one of whom is wielding a baseball bat and reprimanding the other on their amorous inclinations. Now, time travel to 2001 and read that previous sentence aloud in a crowded place and see if you can't get some heads to explode. We ourselves were side-eyeing a certain scene in Village due to its implicit sauciness, and modders have made short work of a naked mod for Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters. Even Capcom has encouraged the idolisation of the character, giving us exact measurements of her height and shoe size, and producing life-size towels with her model printed on them.
Lady Dimitrescu's shadow looms large over Resident Evil Village, and you'd be forgiven for thinking she's the big bad. Actually, she is but one piece of the puzzle that is Ethan's journey to rescue his daughter and stop an evil conspiracy in its tracks. Check out our video review of the game below.

"It'll be about as horny as Resident Evil typically has been for the past 15+ years. Village isn't really that much hornier than usual," conceded StrappingYoungLance. "Resident Evil 6's entire plot was the villain being horny," added Alienous. "It's more a part of the franchise's DNA than being survival horror." Contentious statements, to be sure, yet I would like to raise the point that fans are always going to create content that satisfies them. If they want to see Mr X in a thong, then as God as my witness, we will see Mr X in a thong. Capcom itself said it was surprised by the reception to Lady Dimitrescu, and a leaked internal document from last year expresses its aim to minimise objectification in its future games.
To be honest, I feel like you could create a character whose body is pure chlorine gas and someone will carry a torch for them. As sure as the sun will rise in the morning, as sure as the dawn chorus, as sure as the fact that Rice Krispies are a negative calorie food. We'll have to wait and see what is next for the series, but for now, Resident Evil Village has certainly struck a chord.
