Resident Evil Fans Invited To Test Another Unannounced Capcom Game

Dino Crisis? DINO CRISIS.

Capcom is cooking up another mystery title, and it could very well be Resident Evil related. Members of the Resident Evil Ambassadors program were recently invited by the developer to come and test a currently unannounced project, according to emails published by Reddit user u/deimos-chan.

It's not entirely clear what this secret title could be, but enlisting the help of Resident Evil fans certainly suggests whatever it is has a survival horror slant to it. The last time Ambassadors received such an invite, it ended up being for Resident Evil Resistance. Said multiplayer spinoff will now be included as a free mode in the newly announced Resident Evil 3 remake.

Given we already know about Resident Evil Resistance and Resident Evil 3, it's unlikely that the Ambassadors have been invited to play another Resi spinoff or remake. Could it possibly be an invite to play Resident Evil 8? The follow-up to 2017's Resident Evil 7 has been rumoured to be in development for a while now, but we haven't seen or heard anything official yet.

There's a chance - a small chance - that this unannounced game isn't actually related to the Resident Evil franchise at all. If we're still working on the assumption that the project is a survival horror of some kind though - which I think is likely - the most obvious contender would be Dino Crisis.

The 1999 dinosaur-infested survival horror is a beloved classic, and fans have been clamouring for a remake for some time now. Just recently, Capcom actually filed a new trademark for Dino Crisis (alongside Mega Man, Power Stone, and Darkstalkers).

We also know that Capcom fully intends to explore its older IPs after the huge success of Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry V this year. Needless to say, this has hordes of fervent fans more convinced than ever before that a Dino Crisis remake is finally on the cards.

We'll have to wait and see. Whatever Capcom is cooking up, it's unlikely we'll find out about until the new year at this point. In the meantime we can all fawn over the reveal trailer for Resident Evil 3, which shows Jill Valentine back in action and looking better than ever as she desperately tries to get out of Raccoon City alive.

That's easier said than done of course, what with all the zombies, monsters, and giant biological weapon that's been designed to hunt and murder S.T.A.R.S. members. Resident Evil 3 (plus Resistance) will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC on April 3rd. Dino Crisis to follow soon after, yeah? Yeah. Please, yeah.
