Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is rebooting the much-maligned movie series and represents an opportune occasion for fans to reacquaint themselves with those classic characters. However, these allegedly leaked summaries are raising eyebrows and not in a good way.

Drawing inspiration from The Fog and Assault on Precinct 13, director Johannes Roberts is thrilled to be on board the movie that will cover the events of Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2. "The big thing for me on this movie is tone," explained Roberts in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "The thing that I loved with the games was they were just scary as hell, and that is very much what I wanted, that atmosphere. It's raining constantly, it's dark, it's creepy, Raccoon City is this rotten character. I wanted to put [that] in and mix it with the fun side, especially with the first game's around-the-corner style of storytelling. We had a lot of fun, down to the fixed-angle-playing that the first game had when we're in the Spencer Mansion."

It's tough to trump the oppressive ambience of the early entries in the series, yet Village did its utmost to scare the living daylights out of us in one of its quietest moments. Fortune favours the brave, so why not click "play" below?

So, I've got my fingers crossed that these leaked summaries of the characters involved in Welcome To Raccoon City are a relic of a very early stage in the movie's development. Twitter user @God_Complex_13 claims that these are legit yet didn't reveal where these images came from. However, their details do tally with what we know about the movie - Kaya Scodelario was confirmed to be cast as Claire Redfield and filming was confirmed to be located in Canada.

Let's start with Claire, who is simply described to be "beautiful." She grew up in an orphanage with Chris in Raccoon City, and the place is said to be a "sh*thole." This is a little odd because Raccoon City isn't like this in the series. Umbrella Pharmaceuticals facilitated the expansion of the town in the 20th century and its economy was sustained by a mix of chemical industries and tourism. Raccoon Forest and the Arklay Mountains drew a lot of attention to the area for its picturesque vistas, too.

In her childhood, Claire also saw a "scary little girl with a sack over her head," and this might be Lisa Trevor. The description of the movie version of Leon Kennedy is likely to ruffle some feathers, though. As a rookie cop, he accidentally shot his partner and so his "big shot" father relocated him to Raccoon City in order to sweep the incident under the rug. That's a far cry from the story where he's hungover from a bad breakup and is late for work as a result. Arguably, fans are the most upset over the characterisation of Jill Valentine as a "supporting" character who possesses "striking, intelligent eyes, mischievous smile" and feelings for Chris Redfield.

We've got about a thousand words on why Jill is the greatest character in Resident Evil, so to have her defined by her relationship to Chris isn't an amazing look in our books. It is possible that these aren't official internal documents of the production companies and it's also possible that these summaries were expanded upon as the movie progressed through its development. For example, Brenton Thwaites and Harris Dickinson are mentioned regarding the roles of Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy, and these characters ultimately went to Robbie Amell and Avan Jogia.

The movie releases on November 24th, and we're bound to hear more before then. We'll keep you in the loop when we learn anything new about Welcome to Raccoon City.
