Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness is the upcoming animated show set in the world of the survival horror series, and today, it just received a new trailer from Netflix.

Resident Evil is having a little something of a resurgence on the silver screen and the small screen. Though it has been delayed by one month, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City has bagged itself an enviable cast with Hannah John Kamen, Avan Jogia, Tom Hopper and other big names embodying the iconic characters. Furthermore, this is not the only Resident Evil TV show in the works with Netflix right now - the second is a live-action series that follows the two Wesker daughters caught across timelines as they come to terms with the role their father will play in the apocalypse. Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness is slated to premiere in July on Netflix, and it's brought back the actors who play Claire and Leon in the remake onto the animated show.

The story is set in 2006, not too long after the events of Resident Evil 4, and conflict is sparked when it is discovered that the secret files of the US President have been hacked. "American federal agent Leon S. Kennedy is among the group invited to the White House to investigate this incident, but when the lights suddenly go out, Leon and the SWAT team are forced to take down a horde of mysterious zombies," reads the description provided by Netflix. "Meanwhile, TerraSave staff member Claire Redfield encounters a mysterious image drawn by a young boy in a country she visited, while providing support to refugees. Haunted by this drawing, which appears to be of a victim of viral infection, Claire starts her own investigation."

In the new trailer, Claire approaches Leon in one of the lobbies of the White House, with this odd picture attached to her clipboard. When she asks him for a second opinion, he appears to recognise what the drawing depicts, but he holds back. "I gotta go, don't do anything stupid," he advises Claire, and I'm assuming here that not warning your friend about an imminent zombie threat sketched by a child from another part of the world isn't counted as "anything stupid." Oh, Leon. You are a jester. Seriously though, the show looks solid in the trailer. The quality of the textures, lighting and the animations are very realistic - Leon's hair is almost too good for someone who's going to be taking on monstrous creatures.

Eiichiro Hasumi, who has a portfolio of live-action projects like The Sun Stands Still and Overdrive, is directing Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure's Yugo Kanno is composing the soundtrack. I'm definitely looking forward to the show following this trailer, and it won't be too long of a wait til it arrives in July.
