Resident Evil Village's ESRB rating has been published online, giving us an in-depth look at what's shaping up to be the most gruesome Resident Evil adventure yet.

Over on the ESRB website, there are some fairly graphic descriptions of the enemies and violence waiting for us in the upcoming survival horror. Most of this won't come as a huge shock if you've been paying attention to the trailers (or have ever played a Resident Evil before), but maybe don't read any further if you want to go into the game completely unspoiled.

Scrolls down past our preview of Resident Evil Village for more details. And maybe check out said preview while you're here, yeah? Yeah.

While the giant Lady Dimitrescu has been hogging the spotlight in the lead-up to Resident Evil Village's release, there are plenty more foes to contend with. The ESRB mentions "werewolves, ghouls, mutants, [and] mechanical humanoids." Again, not a big surprise if you've been paying attention. Also, I don't think anyone is as desperate for a werewolf to step on them. Or maybe they are. Guess we'll see.

"Some attacks result in decapitation and/or dismemberment of enemies, often accompanied by large splatters of blood; some areas depict large bloodstains and entrails within the environment," the ESRB warns. "Cutscenes can depict additional acts of intense violence and gore: a character's heart ripped out of their chest; a person chopped through the shoulder by a machete; a character impaled through the chest by a giant weapon; a person repeatedly shot. The words 'f**k' and 'sh*t' are heard in the game."

Resident Evil Village is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series consoles, and PC on May 7. Capcom has also confirmed that it's the second part of a trilogy that started in 2017's Resident Evil 7 and will come to a close in Resident Evil 9.
