Next Thursday on 21 January, Capcom will be sharing a first in-depth look at gameplay for Resident Evil Village, also known as Resident Evil 8: Village. The Resident Evil Showcase was announced alongside a brief teaser that promises to bring a new trailer, first-look gameplay, and more Resident Evil news. A release date? We'll have to wait and see.
Incredibly, the main takeaway from this announcement was not excitement at the promise of a first-look at the Resident Evil 7 sequel. I only wish that were the case. No, instead various folk on Twitter have decided to lust after the game's mysterious lady vampire who, it turns out, is actually really tall. I didn't realise that was something people actively sought out, but good for them.

There we are then. We have no idea who this lady is or what role she'll play in the game, but at least we know people like her and want to be chased around, Nemesis-style, by her. That's a start.
As for the main characters? Well, they might not be super tall thirst-traps, but they are at least familiar faces to fans of the series. Resident Evil Village will see the return of Ethan Winters (returning from Resident Evil 7) and Chris Redfield. Capcom teased a few months back that longtime Resident Evil good guy Chris has "lost his status as a hero" in the upcoming game. It's unclear what that means, but it could he's more foe than friend this time around.
The game's producers have also hinted that the game is called Resident Evil Village because the titular location is "another protagonist". What does that mean? Is the village secretly another extremely tall lady vampire that will whip Twitter into a frenzy? We might just find out next week.
