'Resident Evil Village' Star Lady Dimitrescu Is A Relentless Stalker, Just Like Mr X

Lady D and her daughters will hunt you as soon as you set foot in the Castle

Sometimes terror comes in the form of a jumpscare, shocking you out of your skin. Other times, it arrives in the form of body horror, as you see your character ripped apart or lose a leg as you battle the elements of evil. And just occasionally, terror manifests in the form of a really, really tall person following you very, very slowly.

If you've played Resident Evil 2 you'll know that the Tyrant, aka Mr X, although lethargic and slow, is a terrifying presence in the game. As you run around trying to complete puzzles and progress the story, having a giant following you from room to room - sometimes hiding in the corridors you're about to enter - is a dread many other games don't get right. And Capcom knows it's scary - so it's no surprise that they've made the game's poster-girl Lady Dimitrescu a similarly slow-moving threat in Resident Evil Village.

We've all heard of Lady Dimitrescu by now, haven't we? We've talked about how tall she is, done some Danny DeVito-related science, and even seen a clip of her we know is going to end up on Pornhub. The sexy vampire lady has been everywhere, and strangely it seems that that is going to be what it's like to encounter her in the game. (Speaking of which, watch our own gameplay, above.)

A recent preview of the game got the game into the hands of IGN who found out that she'll act very much like Mr X in Resident Evil 2. If you're within the walls of the Castle, Lady D and her (more regular-sized) daughters will be patrolling the area looking for you, and will attack on sight. There is also a clip that PlayStation has been promoting, showing what happens when you encounter her in the wild, and man she's terrifying.

Just like Mr X, she's slow and foreboding and very much a quick way to die if you don't avoid her massive claws. Though I can't help but think it's a little cute that she has to bend down and hold onto her hat when she goes through doorways. It's also implied by IGN's story that she, and her family, will definitely be mini-bosses within the story. I'd put money on her transforming into an even more terrifying beast later in the game, don't you think? Resident Evil Village will be out May 7 for PlayStation 5 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, PC and Stadia.
