Launched last week, Resident Evil Village has bowled us over with its beautiful world, zany monsters, and unique boss battles. With that in mind, it seems like a McDonald's had to announce that it was short-staffed on Friday because the "giant vampire wife" has lured employees to book the day off.

Yes. "Giant vampire wife." Shared on Reddit, it isn't known where this McDonald's is, nor who pasted the piece of paper on its drive-thru speaker, but the sign also asked that customers are "patient with the staff that did show up." Given how much hype has been generated for Resident Evil Village, it's possible that this restaurant was running with a very diminished team. In its first 24 hours, more than 100,000 people were playing the game on Steam, obliterating the record held by its predecessor by a factor of five.

"Giant vampire wife" is referring to Lady Dimitrescu, and she's one of the best bits of Resident Evil Village. Imperious, icy cold, and effortlessly stylish, she resides in her castle with her three daughters who are all hellbent on drinking Ethan's blood. Yet, that's not even the most frightening part of the game. Steel your nerves and check out our video below.

Moreover, half of all sales of Resident Evil Village in the UK were for the PlayStation 5. Of course, there are exclusive features on that platform in comparison to the others, like adaptive triggers and 3D audio thanks to the Tempest engine. Reviewing the game, Mark found that for all of the comparisons to Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil Village carves its own space out of the bones of earlier entries and the guttings of games like Devil May Cry, P.T., and even Call Of Duty.

There are no two ways about it - Lady Dimitrescu is definitely the face of Resident Evil Village, and it was equal parts amusing and exciting to see such a compelling charactertake over the Internet. Capcom itself was surprised by the reception to the villain, but it acted quickly to ensure we knew exactly how tall she is and exactly what size shoe she wears. And, as one would expect, there are some very odd mods out there for her and her daughters.
