Depending on the country you're in, the games you play might be a little different. I mean it was only recently that Germany officially got access to the uncut version of Left 4 Dead 2 years after the original release. Depending on a country's officials, and what they're happy for the public to see, games can be altered to abide by content laws - which is what's going to happen to Resident Evil: Village in Japan.
According to The Gamer, the next instalment of the horror series Resident Evil is going to be heavily censored when it comes out in Japan. Some of the violent content that we will see internationally will be excluded in the final Japanese versions of the game. And that's games plural, because it seems that there will be two versions of Resident Evil: Village released there.
Reports are saying that there are two games set for release, one designed for people 17 and up (a CERO D) and another designed for people 18 and above (a CERO Z). What the difference is between these two editions, and why it's only a year's difference is unclear - we don't even know what portion of the violence might be censored within the Japanese versions either, apart from it will have less blood and no decapitations.

The CERO (Japan's Computer Entertainment Rating Organization) will be the body to decide what Japan gets to keep, but it's not an uncommon situation in which games are censored in Japan. According to the report from The Gamer, when Resident Evil 7 came out, Japan also saw a toned-down version of the game - excluding some gory imagery like a severed head inside a fridge.
Resident Evil will always be known for its gore and grotesque horror, no doubt - it's a shame that some of the people that want to see that will have to play a less violent version of the game. However, even without the full-on decapitations of the NA/EU edition of Village we're sure that Capcom will make Japan's versions horrifying and terrible in a delightful way too. While we're waiting for the release in May though, can I interest you in knowing the tall sexy vampire lady is about two Danny DeVitos tall?
