Resident Evil is moving out of its Village and rearing its head in another incredibly popular horror game on June 15, 2021. Some of the franchise's biggest protagonists and one of its most intimidating foes will be heading into the asymmetrical horror multiplayer game, Dead by Daylight - and we can't wait to finally, finally become a tyrant and kill our mates for fun.

Jill Valentine, Leon Kennedy, and Resi 3's Nemesis are getting added in a hefty Resident Evil-themed DLC for Dead by Daylight as well as a Racoon City Police Station map. And it's not the first series to crossover, either. Dead by Daylight has become something of a meeting point for a large number of the biggest horror franchises in the world. Pyramid Head from the Silent Hill games, for example, is already playable, as are other horror icons like Scream's Ghost Face, Stranger Things' Demogorgon, and A Nightmare on Elm Street's Freddy Krueger. Halloween, SAW, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Evil Dead also feature in the game, whether that be playing the big bad in the franchise, or featuring the hero as a Dead by Daylight survivor.

Here is the brutal new trailer for the Resident Evil DLC...

Now, Jill Valentine and Leon Kennedy will be added to the game as survivors - part of a team of four who have to evade the killer to fix generators and escape from the hellish arena. Nemesis, of course, will be added as a killer who stomps around the arena playing hide and seek with the survivors before attacking them - which means impaling them on hooks until they die, as a sacrifice to demon-god-thing, The Entity.

Nemesis will have three unique perks as the killer. These are:

  • Lethal Pursuer: You have been designed to track down and eliminate targets. At the start of the Trial, the Auras of all Survivors are revealed to you for 5/6/7 seconds.
  • Hysteria: You know how to brutalise one member of a team to cause a panic. Whenever you put a healthy Survivor into the Injured State with a Basic Attack, all injured Survivors suffer from the Oblivious Status Effect for 20/25/30 seconds. Hysteria has a cool-down of 60 seconds.
  • Eruption: The NE-α parasite provides you with the intelligence and awareness needed to set a trap. After kicking a Generator, its Aura is highlighted in yellow. When you put a Survivor into the Dying State with a Basic Attack, every affected Generator explodes, regressing their progress by 6 % and causing their Auras to disappear. Any Survivor repairing a Generator when it explodes will scream and suffer from the Incapacitated Status Effect for 10/12/14 seconds. Eruption has a cool-down of 90 seconds.

The tyrant will also have a Tentacle Strike to hit survivors with, which will increase his mutation rate. These will leave survivors contaminated which will stunt their progress until they find vaccines dotted around the arena to cure themselves. But there's a catch: if you use a vaccine, Nemesis will be able to briefly see your position.

The Resident Evil DLC will be available for Dead by Daylight from June 15, 2021.
