Like a cone of raspberry and lime flavoured ice cream on a summer's day, have we got a scoop and a half for you. According to a noted industry insider, Legacy Of Kain: Soul Reaver is getting a remaster to be released this year.

Following Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, the game takes the setting over a thousand years into the future and pits the new protagonist, Raziel, against Kain. His predecessor's selfishness has doomed the world of Nosgoth to perpetual decay and destruction. Plus he offs Raziel almost instantly in the game and chucks him into the Lake of the Dead. That would rub anyone up the wrong way. In order to restore the Wheel Of Fate, Raziel becomes a soul reaver to kill his brothers to absorb their powers and ultimately rid Nosgoth of Kain's tyranny. The fact that there's a Soul Reaver 2 should answer any questions on whether or not Raziel is successful in that particular pursuit.

Most will agree that Legacy Of Kain: Soul Reaver is a belter of a game on the PlayStation, with awesome level design and impressive performances from a star studded cast. There's an Easter egg for it in Astro's Playroom, and here's a compilation of our favourite references in the adorable adventure game.

Now for that delicious scoop I promised you. XboxEra founder and industry insider Nick "Shpeshal_Nick" Baker - the guy who has also mentioned a Mandalorian video game - claimed that Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver is getting a lick of paint. Crystal Dynamics is in charge of the game's development, which is ideal as it is the original studio, and it might be announced in a big gaming event like Gamescom or The Game Awards. "Blimey, that is good news," replied Jon "sikamikanico" Clarke in response to the bombshell, and even though Baker clarified that it would be a remaster rather than a remake, the hype for such a possibility is red hot.

"S H U T U P!!!!!!! Please please please please please let this be true..." said Ashamed-Board3557 on Reddit. "It is worth mentioning that if you try to buy the game on Steam, you will find a message saying: 'Note: Square Enix has temporarily removed this title from sale to work on some important updates. Please check back soon!'" said Superb_School. They're right, you know. Here's a screenshot of the listing just in case it changes between here and now.

Of course, these "updates" might be addressing some compatibility issues or perhaps adding a few new features, so we must keep our head out of the clouds. But, we'll keep you in the loop as and when we hear more about this rumour.
