For the past several months, Rockstar Games has been handing out sizable monthly deposits of in-game cash to Grand Theft Auto Online players with a subscription to PlayStation Plus.
All PS Plus numbers have had to do in the past is log in to the online game once a month, and they receive a chunky $1,000,000 sent straight to their bank account. Their in-game bank account, to be very clear. You'd think I wouldn't need to clarify that. You'd be surprised.
This smattering of free money, which is an extra incentive to try and set players up ahead of GTA Online's launch on PlayStation 5, has proven to be hugely popular with PS Plus subscribers. Less so with Xbox and PC players who aren't getting sent a crap ton of money every month, but such is life. Given the popularity of this free money scheme, it's important for players to be aware that Rockstar is making some changes to how it works.

Anyone with a PS Plus subscription who is currently taking advantage of the monthly cash injection should take note: Starting April 1, the process will no longer be as simple as logging in and automatically receiving the money.
The good news is that it's still fairly simple, with just a few added steps to the process. Rockstar explains in a blog post: "All you'll need to do to claim your money is visit the PlayStation Store at the start of each month and claim your GTA$1,000,000 directly. March 2021 will be the last month that your GTA$ benefit will be automatically deposited within 72 hours of your first play session of the month. PS Plus will be required to claim the GTA$1,000,000 from the PS Store each month and the GTA$ will be deposited into your account upon store redemption."
Simple enough, right? So there we go. If you're one of the players still logging in every month for those juicy freebies, you can't say you weren't warned about the changes. It's a little extra work, but it's still basically $1,000,000 for nothing.
