Rockstar Is Working On Multiple Unannounced Projects, Claims Former Employee

It probably hasn't escaped your attention that Rockstar is an infamously tight-lipped company. There's precious little information that comes from that studio that wasn't put out with its knowledge and consent, and any legitimate info that does leak is usually met with swift and severe consequences.

The point is, it's incredibly rare that we'll find out what Rockstar is working on until Rockstar wants us to know what it's working on. This makes speculating about the studio's mystery projects so tantalising, especially when there's a chance that they could be working on a number of massively anticipated titles, like Grand Theft Auto VI or Bully 2, for instance.

The good news is that a little light has now been shed into the darkened crevices of Rockstar's future plans. Emphasis on "a little", because it's really not much to go on. Still, we take what we can get.

A former employee for Rockstar India, Angith Jayarajan, was recently interviewed by StayAbode (via GamesRadar), where he revealed that in addition to working on Red Dead Redemption 2 as a 3D artist, he also spent some time on a number of other Rockstar games that have yet to be announced. If I could grow a beard, I stroke it enigmatically right now.

"After that I worked at Rockstar Games," Jayarajan said, "I worked on Red Dead Redemption 2 and a couple of games I can't name yet." Sadly that's all that was said on the subject of the mystery projects, but it's confirmation that Rockstar is cooking up more than one mystery title right now.

While rumours of Bully 2 are always flying around in some capacity, there's been a lot more chat than usual about a return to Bullworth Academy in the past few months. The only fly in this particular ointment is the recent revelation that a Bully sequel was in development a few years back but "never got off the ground."

This doesn't automatically mean that Bully 2 is dead forever, of course. There's every chance that Rockstar decided to reboot the project at some point, and that it will indeed be the next game the studio releases, as previous rumours suggested. Then again, maybe Bully 2 really is dead forever and we all need to accept that and move on. Who knows?

The other obvious contender is a little game called Grand Theft Auto VI. Even with GTA Online continuing to bring in buckets of cash for Rockstar, there's absolutely no way that the studio won't release a sequel to GTA V at some point. With the next-generation of consoles officially arriving at the end of next year, we're approaching the perfect time for the announcement of a new-generation of GTA.

In an ideal world, there'd also be multiple teams at Rockstar working on new Max Payne and LA Noire games, but I think that might be a dream too far. There's also a chance that the studio is working on a brand new IP, which would be pretty interesting - and the studio's first in quite some time.
