Saints Row Reboot Trailer Currently Has More Negative Reactions Than Positive

Deep Silver Volition revealed the reboot of Saints Row earlier this week, yet, it looks like the opinions of the players have been split over the news.

At the moment, the trailer for the upcoming game has a strangely high number of dislikes across its three versions - on the official Saints Row channel, the Xbox channel and the PlayStation channel on YouTube. Our calculations worked out that the trailer has been viewed just under a million times from these three versions and there are a shared 33,500 likes and 35,900 dislikes.

What's happened? Saints Row is a beloved series with a fairly reliable track record. It's possible that the reaction is due to the fact that the game will be an Epic Games Store exclusive on PC when it launches on February 25th, 2022. Another explanation might be that the new game is not going to be as edgy or incendiary as the earlier iterations.

"We love [the old Saints Row games], but we also recognize those are games of a time," said studio development director Jim Boone. "They made sense within that era, and we were able to do things that felt good back then. But that tone is not something that we feel like we want to do today. We had a different kind of story that we wanted to tell."

"We are not backing down on this game. We get it, it's new and it's a shock reaction to a reboot like no other. The gif was supposed to convey that," explained the game's official Twitter account. Well, that's that, then.
