‘The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’ Has One Of The Most Famous Voice Casts In Gaming

When it launched ten years ago, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim continued the tradition of Oblivion in bringing a cast of memorable and dynamic characters to the fore of a prophecy that would change the world. But, did you know that almost all of the Dunmer are voiced by the same actor?

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim boasts an enviable roster of actors who lent their voices to the deuteragonists and antagonists across the province. For example, Lynda Carter, who was Wonder Woman in the live-action TV series in the 1970s, plays Gormlaith Golden-Hilt and Azura. Charles Martinet plays the dragon Paarthurnax, though he is very famous in the industry for voicing a certain plumber who wears a red hat, red shirt and denim overalls. Hollywood heavyweights Max von Sydow and Christopher Plummer play Esbern and Arngeir respectively, and if you're a big Bourne fan, you're bound to recognise Delphine as Joan Allen.

Man, I miss Skyrim. I can't recommend the random alternate start mod enough, especially when combined with the Oblivion-style character creation mod. Those would dump my Dragonborn somewhere in the realm where I'd be free to bimble about through the sunshine and the storms before eventually fulfilling their role to prevent Alduin's return. Check out our 24 Hours in Skyrim video below which will remind you of all the charms this game has to offer.

However, as Reddit user auralight has cleverly pointed out, a lot of the characters in Skyrim share the same voice actor, which is a testament to the talent that the game accrued. Keith Szarabajka plays the priest Erandur, the merchant Brand-Shei, the steward Malur Seloth... the list really goes on and on. Szarabajka plays almost all named Dunmer in the game as well as the unnamed individuals that you encounter in caves or in cities. Lani Minella plays almost all female Dunmer and she's also the voice of The Night Mother. That tracks, to be honest.

Claudia Christian, well known for her role as Commander Susan Ivanova in Babylon 5, plays Aela the Huntress, Legate Rikke, Bryling, and more. What's more is that she appears in Fallout 4 as Desdemona, Mrs. Whitfield, and most interestingly, Mistress Mysterious. Now that I know, I can hear it in these characters' voices too. Last but not least, the actor who plays Mercer Frey, Clavicus Vile, Sibbi Black-Briar and others in Skyrim has credits as characters in Fallout 4. Stephen Russell also plays Nick Valentine and Codsworth. Last but not least for real this time, I'm on his Wikipedia entry and it turns out he plays Corvo Attano in Dishonored 2. Wild. Oh and he was Sylvain Bellamy in Prey?! Ok, I'm done, otherwise this'll be me all day.
