Allison Mack, who played Clark Kent's best friend Chloe Sullivan in the hit CW show Smallville, has been sentenced to three years in prison after participating in a sex cult in New York. The actress pleaded guilty to the charges against her after playing a crucial role in guiding new women into the NXIVM cult.

According to Comicbook, NXIVM looked on the surface to be a system of self-help programs - but beyond that was a pyramid scheme, concealing a sex cult within its organisation. DOS, or Dominus Obsequious Sororium (which roughly translates as Master of the Obedient Female Companions), was the "secret sisterhood" where women who were selected would eventually end up in the organisation. This would lead them to provide nude pictures as collateral damage, acting as other members' slaves and even branded with the initials of cult leader Keith Raniere.

Allison Mack was at the center of this scheme, working with other leaders to recruit women into the cult's ranks to become one of the 15-20 women Raniere would have sexual relationships with.

The actress has now been sentenced after pleading guilty to charges, and the court has decided that she will face three years in prison and a $20,000 fine. She's quoted in The AP saying that her part in Raniere's scheme was "the biggest mistake and greatest regret of my life". She continues on to say that she's "sorry to those of you that I brought into NXIVM. I am sorry I ever exposed you to the nefarious and emotionally abusive schemes of a twisted man."

Raniere was caught back in 2018 after fleeing to Mexico with some of his followers, including Mack, and was sentenced to 120 years in prison on charges of sex trafficking. According to some reports, however, there are still about 50-60 people who are loyal to the cult leader.
