Whatever the platform, everyone knows that dead air, when broadcasting live, is a big no-no. Radio, streaming, whatever: never leave the microphone alone for too long. It's, like, rule number one of this sort of thing.
But rapper Snoop Dogg clearly paid that memo, drilled in at Live Events 101 class, no real mind whatsoever. As PC Gamer reports, the man behind such hits as 'Gin and Juice', 'Sensual Seduction' and 'Drop It Like It's Hot' simply left a Twitch stream running, without himself on screen or any gameplay going on, for a good seven and a half hours. That's a marathon of dead air, right there.
The how behind this unlikely occurrence is something many of us will be familiar with. Snoop was streaming a game, lost his temper with it, and walked away. And hey, let me be the first to say: it's not a bad thing to just leave it, if a game is stressing you out. We don't need that in our lives. Let it go, come back another time. No harm, no foul. I mean, unless you're live-streaming that game to a hefty audience, of course. In which case, I guess, maybe kill the stream, too?
That's what Snoop failed to do, after managing just 14 minutes of Madden NFL 21 (y'know, the other football series, with the funny-shaped balls and a lot less kicking). Upon his temper reaching breaking point, Snoop ditched the game but failed to stop his stream, not realising his mistake until - you guessed it - over seven hours later. Check the video above to see the action unfold, before collapsing into an endurance test of nothingness.
Streaming with the title of 'Sit Back, Relax, and Chill its a vibe in here', Snoop ultimately delivered on that promise - it's pretty easy to sit back and relax to a stream of a whole lot of nothing whatsoever, I guess. All viewers could see for that duration was Snoop's chair, and they were treated to the sweet sound, albeit quietly, of whatever music he was enjoying elsewhere at home.
My favourite bit: where he goes to turn off the Xbox he's playing on at 14.52, when the opposition scores; has second thoughts; but almost instantly decides nah, fudge this. We've all been there, Snoop. We've all been there.
Totally unrelated, why not watch how the Undertaker - yes, the wrestler - would take his aggression out on an array of famous gaming characters...
