Sonic The Hedgehog Movie Redesign Reportedly Leaks Online

The nightmares might finally be over.

Did you ever hear the tragedy of Sonic the live-action movie hedgehog? It's not a story SEGA or Paramount Pictures would tell you. Unfortunately for them, it's also one of the biggest gaming stories of the last year, so you've almost undoubtedly heard all about it.

Earlier this year, SEGA and Paramount proudly shared the very first trailer for the live-action Sonic The Hedgehog movie - a movie I honestly had fairly low expectations for, but was happy to watch anyway.

I mean, a light-hearted flick about a cartoon hedgehog running around with Jim Carrey doing his best Jim Carrey as the villain? Even if it was bad, it'd be the good kind of bad.

Sure enough, the first trailer was actually... pretty promising. I even smiled a few times. Unfortunately there was one slight problem that I, nor the rest of the world, could quite overlook. Sonic himself was hideous.

You've likely already seen so I won't dwell on it, but the cartoony hog from the games we all know and love was gone, replaced with something that looked more like a Smurf who'd just gotten out of prison after doing time for aggravated assault.

Needless to say, there was a swift backlash, and the film's director Jeff Fowler promised to go back to the drawing board and redesign the titular hedgehog, delaying the movie by a few months as a result (not that that stopped some hideous Halloween costumes from hitting the market).

Paramount

This was a few months ago now, and I assume Paramount has been hard at work coming up with a more game-accurate version of Sonic that won't make people sick in their mouths. It just so happens that we might finally have been given our first look at the redesigned Sonic, and I'm happy to report that it looks... well, it looks like Sonic, which is all we ever wanted.

Take this with a pinch of salt, mind, as the leak is currently completely unverified. The blurry promotional images were shared by Twitter user @BestInTheGalaxy, who claims to have recieved them from a 'friend at Paramount'.

I know - that's right up there with having an uncle who works for Nintendo, but the images (below) do look to tow the line between the original movie Sonic and classic video game Sonic. In other words, it's plausible that this is the middle ground Paramount reached. If it is, I for one am pretty happy with it.

I'm personally inclined to doubt these images are the real deal, mostly because a 'friend at Paramount' reeks of the highest-grade horse poop. Regardless, if they end up being legit, I think it'll please an awful lot of Sonic fans out there. Drink the alleged redesign in for yourself and let us know what you think on Facebook or Twitter.
