Sonic The Hedgehog Movie Redesign Spotted Again, All But Confirms New Look

Sonic The Hedgehog Movie Redesign Spotted Again, All But Confirms New Look

Leaking around at the speed of sound.

For the third time in just a few weeks, we've had yet another alleged Sonic The Hedgehog movie leak. Just like the two images that appeared last month, the most recent leak gives us another good look at the redesigned speedster. It also happens to line up with the last two leaks, meaning it's highly likely that this is indeed the official redesign.

As you can see below, Sonic's redesign is a marked improvement on the version that appeared in the original trailer. You know, the one that made everyone scared for their lives.

The gloves are back, the tummy looks the way it should, and the eyes look loads better. All in all, Sonic looks more like the video game character we all know and love... and less like a creature from the ninth circle of hell that crawled out from under your bed to grind you up and turn you into a chili dog.

I was sceptical when the redesign first leaked back in October, I have to admit. The alleged new look was first shared by Twitter user @BestInTheGalaxy. They uploaded a couple of blurry promotional images, that they claimed to have received them from a "friend at Paramount". It didn't exactly scream legit.

Just a few weeks later, another Twitter user by the name of @pablothinghouse shared an image of what appeared to be a promotional standee for Sonic The Hedgehog. Sure enough, it matched up beautifully with the design @BestInTheGalaxy initially shared.

Not only does the most recent leak give us our clearest look yet at the speedy hedgehog, it also matches up with the last two images. Either someone is playing an incredibly elaborate prank on all of us... or this really is the official redesign, and it's simply starting to trickle out as marketing for the movie gears up again.

I'm certainly hoping for the latter. As much as the original design for movie Sonic made me want to claw my own eyes out, I thought the rest of the trailer genuinely looked... okay? Don't get me wrong, I don't think Sonic The Hedgehog is going to set a new benchmark for cinema, but it looks like a dumb, fun ride.

The only thing putting me off was the appalling design of the title character. If the images above are really what we're getting now, then I think I can let myself be excited again.
