Blindfolded Speedrunner Decimates 'Super Mario 64' In Under 40 Minutes

Have you ever been playing a high-concentration game when someone interrupts you? You have to tear your eyes away from the screen for a moment to tell a loved one where their keys are, or that you'll come to dinner in a second before looking back at the screen and you've screwed up your play. You're dead, or you've fallen off a ledge, or you're being beaten to a bloody pulp by a low-tier enemy. And that's just from looking away from the screen for a moment.

So we can't imagine what it's like to play Super Mario 64 completely blindfolded and manage to complete a run in under 40 minutes. But that's what speedrunner Bubzia has managed to achieve at charity event Awesome Games Done Quick and we're just flat out impressed by his skills.

The runner relies on knowledge of maps, sounds, and glitches to complete a 16 star run of the game. Of course, he doesn't go through every level to get to the final boss in well under an hour, but finishing this game without any visual aids is incredibly impressive no matter how many helpful cheats you use.

To complete the run a blindfolded runner must rely on using the camera in the menu, have incredibly precise knowledge of walls, jump timing, sound cues and more. It's hard enough to learn normal speedrunning techniques without one of your senses being eliminated, so knowing every inch of your environment is imperative in this run.
