The Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer is finally here, and it's fair to say there's a lot to unpack. I won't lie to you: I've watched it through at least a dozen times already and I'm still finding new things to obsess over with every viewing. December 17 cannot come soon enough, I tell you.

Perhaps one of the most exciting takeaways from the debut trailer was the apparent confirmation of the rumour that Tom Holland's Spidey would find himself exploring the Marvel multiverse. The trailer teased a number of iconic Spider-Man villains from past movies, including Doctor Octopus, Electro, and Sandman - but the one moment that really sent fans into a frenzy? The return of Green Goblin.

Take a look at the trailer below if you haven't seen it already. And if you have? Watch it again, obviously.

It's been rumoured for a while now that Willem Dafoe is returning to play Green Goblin, a role he originally took on in the Sam Raimi/Tobey Maguire Spider-Man trilogy. Dafoe's Goblin was the first villain we ever saw Spidey fight on the big screen, and his manic energy left an impression on an entire generation.

Needless to say, the prospect of finally seeing him return to do battle with a new Spider-Man is ridiculously exciting for older fans. While we don't see him in the trailer, the appearance of one of his trademark pumpkin bombs and the sound of his haunting laugh did just what it needed to do.

A handful of reports allege that Dafoe's Goblin will actually be the main villain of the film as he leads the Sinister Six into battle against Spidey. Given who we already spotted in the trailer, I'd wager Goblin's Sinister Six would consist of Doc Ock, Electro, Sandman, Lizard, and maybe Vulture? We'll just have to wait and see. Spider-Man: No Way Home swings into cinemas on December 17.
