Please, just give it to me.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time was quite possibly one of this year's best surprises. Developed by Toys For Bob, the latest Crash adventure was designed as a canonical sequel to the classic PlayStation games, essentially side-stepping the character's uneven later years and returning to a purer and more focused version of the IP that drew heavily on all the "classic" elements of Crash.

In my own review, I had a lot of love for it. Not only did I praise the way Toys For Bob managed to stay true to the original Naughty Dog games, but the way in which the team introduced plenty of its own smart updates and ideas. I was completely unconvinced a classic Crash game would be any good in 2020, and Toys For Bob proved me wrong.

That's why I'm incredibly excited that it looks like the studio might just be giving Spyro The Dragon the exact same treatment, as an official artbook for Crash Bandicoot 4 seems to all but confirm Spyro The Dragon 4. I've always maintained Spyro is better than Crash, personally, so this is something I'm very much up for.

The exciting reference was spotted by SpyroUniverse on Twitter, with pictures from the artbook uploaded by CrashyNews. In the images, you can just make out Spyro hiding underneath some flying cars. While that in itself could be nothing more than a fun nod to the past, it's accompanied by a quote from Crash 4 concept artist Brun Croes, who directly acknowledges the "little hint at Spyro".

It would, of course, make perfect sense for Spyro The Dragon 4 to be Toys For Bob's next project. The studio has proven itself capable masters of 3D platforming over the last few years, having worked on the Spyro and Crash remakes. With Crash Bandicoot 4 demonstrating they have more than a few original ideas for these characters, giving them free rein for a brand-new Spyro would be a no-brainer. Make it happen, Activision. Please.
