Academy Award winning actress Brie Larson, who became a household name for her role as Captain Marvel, may be in the running for a role as a Skywalker in a Star Wars project.

Numerous reports say that she's in talks to play Mara Jade, the wife of Luke Skywalker and mother of Ben Skywalker. Appearing in the novel Heir To The Empire, she was one of Emperor Palpatine's assassins, though his death led her to defect and become a smuggler. Then, Grand Admiral Thrawn's efforts to destabilise the New Republic meant that she encountered Luke Skywalker and begrudgingly began to work alongside him. Mara Jade was Force-sensitive and able to hold her own in combat, even without relying on her abilities.

After she and Luke fell in love, she trained devotedly to honing her connection to the Force and was rewarded with the title of Master. Their son Ben was born, but because the two were involved in an extra galactic war, he was raised by Han and Leia with his cousins Jacen and Jaina. Tragically, Mara Jade was killed in the Second Galactic Civil War by Jacen, as he had been converted to the dark side of the Force.

This is part of the Legends series, which is officially non-canonical, explaining why you've not seen Mara Jade pop up in the newest trilogy. Speaking of, I am very amped for Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga coming to PC and consoles this year. Check out the trailer below.

If you weren't aware, Brie Larson loves Star Wars, and actually auditioned for a part in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. She's dressed up in Jedi robes and posed with C-3PO while battling with lightsabers. Ergo, it's imaginable that she'd leap at the chance to be involved in a Star Wars project. It was theorised that she was in talks to play Avar Kriss in a High Republic show for Disney+, but the company is apparently thinking that she could play Mara Jade. There's no denying that Larson would be a very good fit - she's already worked with Disney through her appearances in Marvel movies, she's proven her chops as a protagonist, deuteragonist and antagonist, as well as her passion for being behind the camera with her film Unicorn Store. Of course, neither party has come forward to confirm this, yet the source is the same as the one that stated Ahsoka Tano would appear in the second season of The Mandalorian. We'll let you know when we learn more about this rumour.
