Ewan McGregor has returned to the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi for the upcoming spinoff show, and in an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, he's shared that there's a scene featuring "someone very special in [his] life."

Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi is filming now, and fans are feverish with excitement over the possibilities of the new story. Joby Harold is writing the show, who has credits on Army of the Dead, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, and John Wick: Chapter 2, and the cast is stacked with talent. Not only is McGregor playing Obi-Wan, Hayden Christensen is signed on to play Anakin Skywalker at the start of his journey to become the deadliest Sith Lord in the series. We also know that Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Rupert Friend, and Indira Varma are slated to take on the roles of secondary characters. Excitingly, there are rumours that Varma, who played Ellaria Sand in Game Of Thrones, is going to be a Sith Inquisitor who is hunting down Obi-Wan on behalf of the Empire. My fingers are crossed and crossed and crossed again for this. Also send help. It hurts.

An elegant weapon, for a more civilized age. No, I'm not talking about swinging a cardboard wrapping paper tube at your younger sibling while making "bzzzew szszsoow" noises with your mouth. Disney has actually created a prototype lightsaber, and it looks fantastic. Take a gander here.

McGregor was quizzed on the show when he was interviewed by Jimmy Kimmel on May 11th, though it's clear that he's had strict orders to keep mum. He was able to reveal that he did a "very special" scene on Star Wars Day with "someone very special in [his] life." This particular person hasn't filmed scenes with McGregor ever before, nor are they related to him. So, it's anyone's guess who that could be, given how enormous the galaxy is.

He also added that it's "great" to be back in costume as Obi-Wan Kenobi, and that fans should expect that there have been some changes from his standard sand-coloured robes. Of course, the show is set a decade after the events of Revenge of the Sith, and it is understandable that as the Empire rises in power, the Jedi will want to lay low. "I have to say I'm having a really, really good time," affirmed McGregor. "The costume's probably slightly different than you might expect. But to go back into the role, shall we say, is great. It's all still there, it feels good, there's great scripts and great people to work with, and it's great. I'm having a good time." Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi comes to Disney+ in 2022.
