Fans Are Planning To Flood 'Star Wars Battlefront 2' Today For Epic Battles

Star Wars Battlefront 2, which is now three years old, went through the wringer when it launched with controversies surrounding loot boxes and microtransactions. Today, it is a beloved entry to the series of Star Wars games, and fans are organising a flood of the servers to show their appreciation.

There were literal government investigations into Star Wars Battlefront 2. Remember that? Following the uproar over the inclusion of microtransactions into the game, the Belgian Gaming Commission found that loot boxes are illegal under its gambling laws, but that Star Wars Battlefront 2 was not in violation of these as Electronic Arts had removed this feature temporarily. Then, the Dutch Gambling Commission launched its own examination of the game in order to ensure that younger players stayed safe while making the most of what the game had to offer. Electronic Arts was in the thick of it when state legislators in the United States called the game "predatory," designed to "exploit human psychology," and especially concerning for "vulnerable" players. The words they used were that it's a "Star Wars-themed online casino."

The success of The Mandalorian means that it's a given that Disney and Lucasfilm are really ramping up development on new Star Wars TV shows, films, and games. Apparently, a third Knights of the Old Republic game is in the works with an unknown developer. Get the lowdown here.

Yikes. Well, those days are behind Electronic Arts, and following a few tweaks to the core formula, fans were a lot happier with Star Wars Battlefront 2 once the dust had settled. The game's final update, The Battle of Scarif, rolled out in April 2020, and the creative director thanked players for playing their part in "a remarkable, challenging, and ultimately rewarding journey for the entire team." captain.ghostt on TikTok has rallied fans to a common cause - jumping into the game and showing how loved it is by its community. With 492,000 views, 86,000 likes and almost 4,000 comments, it's clear that captain.ghostt won't be hanging about Starkiller Base like a lemon.

This is the same strategy that Titanfall 2 players used to welcome new players to the game following a Steam sale, and it's cheering to know that Star Wars Battlefront 2 is still entertaining in spite of no new updates. So, if you're one of the many who will be returning to the game, let us know how you get on? Pack a couple of sandwiches. Perhaps an apple and a Cheestring too.
