Now we've got a little bit of distance from the Star Wars sequel films it seems that Disney is happy to confirm some parts of the story that the movies were a little hazy on - or at least give us some more clues as to what actually happened. Namely, we have finally got a true confirmation of who Supreme Leader Snoke actually was apart from just a device to get Kylo Ren to the top of the First Order.
On the Star Wars website, Inside the Magic has noticed that there are details that finally tell us a little bit of Snoke's origin story after it wasn't really explained in the films. During The Rise of the Skywalker, it is mentioned that Palatine "made" Snoke but only briefly. It has been a fan favourite theory for a long time that Snoke was actually just a failed experiment by Palpatine, there hadn't been properly confirmed until this Star Wars website post.
The newest Star Wars adventure is actually located at Walt Disney World Resort where fans can finally feel like they're exploring space...
It reads: "Destiny, and the Contingency, would catch up to Rey in the form of the First Order, led by one of Palpatine's evil duplicates called Snoke. Although Snoke was unsuccessful in bringing Rey to Palpatine and was unexpectedly killed by his protege Kylo Ren, Palpatine continued to pull the strings in order to reel in his granddaughter so he could finally achieve ultimate power."

So there it is, Snoke was created in the labs that we see at the end of The Rise of Skywalker. Though it's not explicitly stated it does seem that it was a faired clone of Palpatine himself but there have been other theories wondering if there were attempted clones of Anakin Skywalker or Luke.
The post also confirms that Rey is the daughter of a clone of Palpatine. After Palpatine was killed on the Death Star his consciousness inhabited a weak clone on Exegol and worked to create a body he could live in forever. "All of this effort ultimately culminated in Rey, the daughter of one of Palpatine's strand-casts. She was the perfect vessel - but her father and mother did everything they could to hide her from her sinister grandfather."
So now we know. Though there are still many questions that people could raise about the films and the lore they introduced, at least we understand canonical that Snoke was an experiment.
